What is BNI ?
BNI stands for Business Network International, it was formed back in the 1980´s by Dr Ivan Misner. The concept and reason for its success is a simple one, like all good ideas.
BNI works on the basis that "Givers gain " or if you give business to me, I will want to give business to you
BNI has over 66,000 members and over 3,000 chapters worldwide and each one works in exactly the same way and to the same format. Each individual chapter meets at the same place at the same time each week. BNI Oldham currently reside at The Avant Hotel and conference centre based just outside Oldham town centre. Our chapter alone, has created over £3 Million for its members in the last 3 years.
As some people have never heard of BNI, it always comes as a bit of a shock when they realise that just around the corner is a professional networking organisation that is made up from all types of businesses and from all walks of life.
Where else can you get local businesses together with one sole reason for being there making more money for you and your business That´s why we meet every week, sure we have a laugh and socialise together and with other local BNI chapters but we never forget the real reason why we meet.
The single most important factor that makes Oldham BNI work so successfully is our "commitment". BNI is not one of those organisations that will allow people to come and go as they please. BNI Oldham have made a commitment to each other, to make sure we attend each week and if we can´t attend a meeting we get a substitute to attend on our behalf. Substitutes can be other members of your business, clients, friends or even other BNI members from other BNI chapters from the local area.
We have also made a commitment to honest and to be truthful when passing referrals for business. A referral is a small form that we fill out when we have potential business for another member, it explains who its from, who its to and what type of business is required and how to contact them.
